Behind the Pink Stripes: Spotlight on Pink Zebra Movers Who Treat Your Move Like Their Own

When you see a Pink Zebra Moving truck pull up (trust us—you can’t miss it!), you’re not just watching another moving company at work. You’re about to see a team that puts just as much emphasis on kindness and care as they do on strength and efficiency.

We recently spent time with the movers behind the pink stripes to hear their stories, see their process up close, and learn what makes them stand out in an industry that can often feel… well, a little impersonal. Spoiler alert: these movers don’t just move boxes - they move with purpose.

A Culture Built on Energy and Positivity

The first thing we noticed? Smiles. Lots of them. From the moment the crew stepped out of the truck, there was no shortage of high-fives, good-natured jokes, and an energy that made moving look (dare we say it?) fun. That upbeat culture isn’t by accident - it’s intentional. Pink Zebra makes hiring about people first, skills second. They believe you can teach someone how to carry a couch, but you can’t teach them how to care.

Attention to Detail That Goes Beyond the Basics

During the move we observed, the team gave us a behind-the-scenes look at their packing methods and let’s just say, they go above and beyond what you’d expect. While many movers might toss dining chairs into the truck as-is, Pink Zebra takes the time to individually wrap and pad each chair. Why? Because your furniture deserves the same care they’d give their own.

Giving Back Through the My Hero Program

Pink Zebra has joined us in our mission to give back to the everyday heroes in our community. They’re proud partners of the My Hero Program, offering a 15% discount plus free materials on full pack-and-move services. That means if you or your spouse is a firefighter, EMS worker, educator, nurse, or part of another community-serving profession, you can save big on your move. It’s just one more way Pink Zebra Moving goes beyond the boxes - because they know heroes deserve extra care, too.

Now, let’s see what Pink Zebra had to say about our burning questions:

1. How do you train your movers to ensure professionalism and care with every move?

Before anything else, we focus on finding great people. During the interview process, we prioritize attitude over experience - because while we can teach moving skills, we can’t teach someone to be kind, personable, or to genuinely care about helping others. We look for people who bring positive energy, know how to talk to customers, and can confidently guide them through what can often be a very stressful experience.

New team members are paired with experienced movers who show them the ropes, until they're ready to “fly solo” and start mentoring others themselves. It’s all about teamwork and building a culture of care.

2. How far in advance should people book movers, and why?

Earlier is always better - especially during busy times like the last week of the month, or on Fridays and Saturdays. If your move needs to happen on a specific date, we recommend booking 4-6 weeks in advance to lock it in.

That said, we’ve pulled off some pretty large moves with just a day or two of notice. It all comes down to availability!

3. What are the best ways for someone to prepare their home before the movers arrive?

The biggest tip: have everything packed in boxes or totes!

We always remind clients that loose or miscellaneous items - like open baskets, throw pillows, toys, or artwork - can really slow things down. A mover can carry three heavy boxes at once, but if they’re juggling pillows and a basket of dog toys, it takes multiple trips. That time adds up and can increase the final bill.

A good rule of thumb is: if it can fit in a box, it should probably be in a box. It helps the movers work faster, keeps your items safer, and saves you money.

We’re always happy to help with last-minute packing if needed, but we also want clients to be informed and empowered to prep in a way that keeps the move efficient and affordable.

4. What’s the most rewarding part of helping people move into their new homes?

That moment at the end of a successful move - when the last box is in and you see the relief on the customer’s face.

Move day is usually the final step in a long and often stressful process: selling a home, searching for a new one, inspections, negotiations, closings, etc. When it’s all finally done and everything is safely in the new space, there’s a real sense of peace and excitement. Being part of that moment makes all the hard work worth it.

5. Can you share a time when your team went above and beyond for a customer?

There are so many stories, but what stands out most are the personal connections.

This spring, we helped a woman move her elderly parents from Paw Paw to Grand Rapids to be closer to her and her sister. She was campaigning for political office, and her sister runs a successful restaurant, so neither had time to help pack or move. We went out to Paw Paw to meet with the parents and do an in-person estimate and ended up really connecting with them.

We worked closely with the daughter to coordinate around shifting closing dates in order to make this happen and our Operations Manager, Cameron, built such a strong relationship with the family that they invited him and his family to both Easter and Mother’s Day celebrations at their restaurant filled with amazing food, dancing and lots of laughs!

Over three full days, we packed, moved, and unpacked their home - and had a blast with this sweet and hilarious couple. Those are the kinds of moves we’ll never forget.

6. What’s the funniest or most unusual item you’ve ever had to move?

We once moved an 8-foot-long stuffed alligator that was mounted on a platform - definitely unusual!

Coming up, we have a move where the customer told us she owns a life-size coffin - not for any morbid reason, just because she really loves Halloween. I haven’t warned the crew yet… but since it’s spooky season, I kind of hope she plays a prank on them!

7. If your moving trucks had a theme song when pulling up to a house, what would it be?

Pink Pony Club - without a doubt!

8. If Pink Zebra Moving had a superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation! Superhuman strength is great and all, but imagine instantly transporting a whole house of furniture across town - or the country! That would be the ultimate time-saver.

9. What snack/drink fuels your movers on a long day?

You can never have too many energy drinks or Gatorades on a moving day! Our guys don’t snack much while on the job, but they definitely enjoy a good lunch break to recharge.
